HR professionals in top companies are now going out of their way to create a relatively stress-free environment for employees, who face increasing competition, client demands and long working hours. Several corporates have come forward to tweak the rules — decreasing work hours, arranging sport events and offering salary advances.
Head-HR at Cybage Software, Elston Pimenta said, “We have made a few policy changes. Our official timings are from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm. In the IT industry, there are times employees have to stay beyond work hours due to client demands, so we are attempting to control this by launching an hourly system, where anybody who stays back beyond office hours needs approval from the manager, which is checked by HR. We keep a monthly check on this to make sure no one is taxed with work.”
Health workshops and activities like Zumba have also been introduced for employees by several companies.
