Udachiwadi Village Awarded the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2019
CybageAsha continues to create sustainable communities in Maharashtra
Udachiwadi, a village supported by CybageAsha - the CSR arm of Cybage Software Pvt. Ltd., has been conferred with the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2019 by Paani Foundation. The village in Purandar Taluka, Pune district was awarded the first prize under the ‘Best Rainwater Harvesting and Watershed Management Program’ category in the competition participated by 76 Talukas.
This achievement was possible through 130 Cybagians’ Shramadaan contribution. The volunteers extended their support towards making Continuous Contour Trenches (CCT) in Udachiwadi village. CCT, a watershed treatment results in increased ground water level and in turn enhances agricultural production. A total of 21 Continuous Contour Trenches (CCT) were constructed with a capacity of collecting 3,82,000 liters of water. CybageAsha also aided the village by installing soak pits thereby helping conserve 30,000 litres of water on a regular basis. CybageAsha’s monetary aid and Shramadaan contribution by Cybagians helped Udachiwadi achieve the coveted recognition.
Overwhelmed by the recognition given to the village, Ritu Nathani, Director of Cybage and Managing Trustee of CybageAsha, expressed, “CybageAsha is committed towards driving meaningful and welfare centric initiatives that impact lives and make communities future ready. The Shramadaan drive gave our volunteers a hands-on opportunity to be sensitized to the serious water scarcity issue looming across the State and the country. It is heartwarming to see other corporates come together assisting other villages around Maharashtra in this drive. CybageAsha further aims to overcome water shortage problems in all its adopted villages through its ongoing desilting and watershed development projects to promote sustainable livelihood of villagers.”
Over the last four years, CybageAsha has taken several efforts to address water scarcity issues in all its adopted villages in Maharashtra by executing the Cement Nala Bandhara Project, educating and providing drip irrigation kits to farmers for optimum usage of water, construction of group wells, re-furbishing and repairing of existing wells in villages, etc.
